The protest has a large turnout, with college people and people from around his neighborhood. Then Mark puts together a protest with his dream girl, Claire. ![]() Mark then gets advice from his teacher to write the Congress people and the Army about the dogs serving in the war. His reply from the army was they keep running the dogs through training until they get it. So he writes to the army to see if the dog doesn’t show much promise if they are sent back. But Mark really starts to miss his four-legged friend, Wolfie. Mark wants to be as great as his brother, Danny, so he sends Wolfie to Fort Benning, Georgia to train to be a scout dog. Mark’s brother Danny, who is serving in the war, tells Mark that the army is looking for dogs to help with the war. This book takes place during the Vietnamese War. ![]()
